I remember growing up my Grandfather would say “Sun doesn’t shine every day, and it doesn’t rain every day either”. I look back on that and think to myself how he was speaking God’s Word, and probably never even knew it.
Romans 8:28 says that “All things work TOGETHER for good, for those that love him and are called according to HIS PURPOSE”. Well… let me say this. If the SUN was shining every day, there would be no use for this statement in scripture.
Let’s take a baking a Chocolate Chip cookie for example.
If we used NOTHING but SUGAR to make the cookie, it would not make a very good cookie. It would be hard as a rock (Rock Candy) if we didn’t include the rest of the ingredients.
I was baking cookies with my daughters the other day, and I laid all of the ingredients up on the table.
2 Cups of Flour
1 Cup of Sugar
1 Cup of Brown Sugar
2 tsp of Vanilla
2 cups of Chocolate Chips
2 Sticks of Butter
1 tsp Salt
1tsp Baking Soda
2 Eggs – Lightly Scrambled
So, I told my daughter to close her eyes, and I took a tsp of Sugar, and asked her what it was. “MMMM Sweet”, she said, then I took a tsp. full of Baking Soda, and she about “Gagged”. LOL! Then I took a raw egg, and she didn’t like that too much either, and then some Salt “UGH”, she said. Then some Chocolate Chips and YES… she loved them.
You see… where I am going with this. Life is FULL of “Bad Tasting”/ “RAINY” Days, but there are a lot of SWEET/Sunshine Days as well. When God said that he works EVERYTHING TOGETHER for good, that’s exactly what he meant. Putting all of the ingredients together makes a good tasting chocolate chip cookie, but separately… “YUK”. God’s ultimate plan right now is take all of your good and bad days together (Notice God’s Word says “Together”), and work them for HIS GOOD, and Glory! So, hang in there! You’re Chocolate Chip cookie AWAITS! God is Working.
